Scott has the privilege of being a surrogate Senator for Queensland on behalf of the Australian Greens and visited Brisbane to meet with Greens members, community campaigners and leading academics in the sustainability field last week.
The timing was fortuitous and eventful, with Queensland MP Ronan Lee joining the Greens only days earlier. Scott had the opportunity to meet with Ronan a number of times and was impressed with his commitment to environmental issues and Greens’ values. Together they announced a Private Members Bill that would ban uranium mining in Queensland and launched a light rail petition for Brisbane.
Scott was also able to attend the hugely successful Greenfest event on the foreshore, catch up with Sea Shepherd buddies as they prepare for their next Antarctica campaign and congratulate a friend on her silver medal for sailing at the Beijing Paralympics.
