Defence & National Security

National security measures must be consistent with internationally recognised human rights.

The decision to send Australians into combat is a decision that must debated by the Parliament, not simply made by the Government of the day. The Greens are the only party to demand an end to the military presence in Afghanistan, and successfully secured the first parliamentary debate into troop deployment in 2010.
