Barnett transport plan provides little faith

The Western Australian public should have little trust in the Barnett Government's public transport plan released today, given the Government's failure to deliver on past election promises, said Greens spokesperson for sustainable cities, WA Senator Scott Ludlam.

"With the state election on the horizon, the Barnett Government is finally panicking at the reality of eight years of failure to deal with Perth's desperate need for public transport," he said.

Greens launch national community infrastructure fund

Infant health centres, jobs and training hubs, sports clubs, learning centres, libraries and community centres and service facilities will get a $100million facelift under a Green’s plan to revitalise regional, remote and outer metropolitan towns.

The Green’s National Community Infrastructure Fund would reverse cuts the Liberal-National Government made to outer metropolitan areas under the National Stronger Regions fund, who now have to compete with inner city project projects for funding.

Greens plan to cool cities

Commercial offices, shopping centres, schools, hospitals, and hotels would be retrofitted with solar panels, ‘green’ walls and efficient appliances to slash energy usage and create healthier places to work under a Green’s plan to cool cities released today.

The $258million national Green Building Plan aims to refurbish up to 80,000 mid-tier buildings and offices across Australia to emit zero carbon pollution by 2040.

Green’s to eliminate Australia’s housing waiting list within ten years

The Australian Greens would eliminate Australia’s public housing waiting list within ten years through a new infrastructure bank administering zero interest loans to not for profit organisations coupled with new direct funding to build 200,000 new homes.

The Green’s plan would construct 7,200 new homes each year through a new Affordable Housing Finance Corporation, which would harness the $2trillion sitting in super funds, and also allow mum and dad investors to invest in affordable housing supply.

Design Perth vision saves billions

The Western Australian government would save $94.5million for every 1000 infill lots developed compared to stand alone greenfield sites according to landmark report.

 

In conjunction with Greens Senator Scott Ludlam, Property Council of Australia, CODA Architecture and Urban Design, and Curtin University Sustainability Policy Institute (CUSP), the #designperth study builds on the findings from Transforming Perth, released in 2013.

Greens urban forest plan to protect Point Peron

Greens Senator for Scott Ludlam will announce a plan to permanently protect Point Peron when he visits Rockingham on Sunday to announce the Greens candidate for Brand, Dawn Jecks.

As part of the Urban Forest plan announced this week, Point Peron would be given statutory protection and adequate management funding as a Bush Forever site.

“Bush Forever, means forever, not just for now until a developer wants to disfigure it into a marina,” said Mr Ludlam.
