Infrastructure

Commonwealth infrastructure funding has been historically subject to short term political imperatives and the lobbying power of a handful of industry bodies. The Greens propose further reforms to Infrastructure Australia to align it with strong sustainability principles and strategic objectives that stretch further than the next electoral cycle.

In practice, this means shifting resources toward public transport, the national rail freight network, high speed rail and other projects that will provide resilience against the challenges of peak oil and climate change.
