Youth, Early Childhood Education & Child Care
We believe all Australian families are entitled to access high-quality, easily accessible, affordable childcare when they need it. Now that the National Quality Framework has been brought in, Australia needs to ensure that people in the childcare sector are fairly renumerated for the work they do. We stand for 26 weeks of paid parental leave.
Young people and children should have greater opportunities to participate in decisions that affect them, and call on the rights they have under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Greens are working to establish a National Children’s Commissioner to protect those rights and create a platform to address the existing inequality of resources and opportunities impacting Australian children and young people.
