Greens statement on the anniversary of the MH17 disaster

Media Release
Scott Ludlam 17 Jul 2015

A year ago today, the world was shocked when a passenger plane was shot out of the sky over eastern Ukraine.

The MH17 tragedy cost the lives of 283 passengers and 15 crew. 38 Australians were amongst those who lost their lives.

Our thoughts today are with the families in Australia and around the world whose lives were so terribly impacted by this event, and whose grief must be all too fresh.

The Greens continue to urge and hope for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, so that other families may be spared the pain and loss caused by this senseless act.

- Senator Scott Ludlam, Australian Greens acting leader and spokesperson on foreign affairs
