Greens welcome overdue release of NBN implementation study

The Federal Government has finally relented to fierce criticism and released the $25 million National Broadband Network Implementation Study, which the Greens and many others have been demanding for months.

"Communications Minister Stephen Conroy previously ignored a Senate Order to produce the only quasi-independent analysis of the multibillion dollar project," said Australian Greens telecommunications spokesperson Senator Scott Ludlam.

"It is hoped that this report will give us some way of assessing how the NBNCo will operate as a business and what the project economics look like.

"We will closely evaluate the full report with the view to continue negotiations with the Government on this long overdue overhaul of Australia's telecommunications sector," Senator Ludlam said.
