As the Australian Uranium Conference opens today in Perth, Senator Scott Ludlam, Australian Greens acting leader and spokesperson for nuclear issues has dubbed the industry as terminally ill.

"Renewable energy is growing at a faster rate than nuclear energy - an industry that has been dominated by disasters, cost blow outs and safety issues," Senator Ludlam said today.

"It's time the nuclear industry came to terms with the reality that a renaissance of the industry is impossible and resuscitation unlikely," Senator Ludlam said.

The Australian Greens said today that the federal government to move to ban the Clean Energy Finance Corporation from investing in small scale solar will impede WA's rapid uptake of rooftop solar and impact local businesses.

"Researched released by the Greens shows that the number of WA homes with solar photovoltaic (PV) power has increased 19% in just one year - overwhelmingly in outer suburbs and households with lower incomes," Senator Scott Ludlam, Australian Greens acting leader said today.

The Australian Greens said today that Tony Abbott and Joe Hockey should learn a negative gearing lesson from their conservative counterparts in the UK.

"The UK's Tory government is winding back negative gearing, while Australia's Tories are too afraid to even have a conversation about the reforms," Senator Scott Ludlam, Australian Greens acting leader and housing spokesperson said today.

The Australian Greens have slammed the WA Government for environmentally approving the Beeliar Wetlands section of the Roe 8 freight highway, pointing out that no amount of so-called protection could safe-guard against slamming a multi-lane freight freeway through such a unique and significant area.

"This is an appalling decision from a government that doesn't even to pretend to care about the damage to people, suburbs and the environment," Senator Scott Ludlam said today.

Australian Greens Senator Scott Ludlam said today that the Abbott Government should cease using Monday night's episode of Q&A to further his government's attack on the ABC and public broadcasting.

"The discussion about the editorial decisions made by the ABC is now being wound up to hysterical levels of stridency by the Abbott Government," Senator Ludlam said today.

"The ABC has apologised and will conduct a review. That is a proper process.
