ASIO’s palace a house of cards? Greens call for full inquiry.

Reports of a security breach at ASIO need an inquiry, not more funding for an already bloated budget, the Greens said today.

Australian Greens communications spokesperson Senator Scott Ludlam said claims hackers stole blueprints for the new ASIO headquarters should be dealt with in a rational manner.

"This building is already $200 million over budget. There have been a series of blowouts and now a fairly serious security breach. This requires an inquiry, not the kind of reflexive demands for more resourcing called for by the Opposition.

Extreme agenda exposed: Liberals push plan to sell ABC and SBS

The Coalition has let the extremist cat out of the bag, with Tony Abbott's Liberals pushing plans to privatise the ABC and SBS, the Greens warned today.

"When Parliament resumes the Greens will introduce a motion to test the Coalition's real intentions," Greens communications spokesperson Senator Scott Ludlam said today.

Senator Ludlam said the Coalition had dropped its guard and revealed its extremism.

"The Coalition arrogantly assumes it will sail into office regardless of how extreme its policies are. The mask is slipping.

Budget win for public broadcasters, communication breakdown for community radio

Greens communications spokesperson Senator Scott Ludlam welcomed Budget boosts for public broadcasters ABC and the SBS while condemning the Government's failure to support community radio.

"The Government is refusing to fund the Digital Radio Program (DRP) which means some community broadcasters face closure. It's a relatively tiny amount of money: $1.4 million to keep all our community broadcasters on the air.
