Dredging threat one more reason to save Point Peron

A new study has revealed dredging for proposed canal housing at Point Peron would contaminate marine life in the area, strengthening the case against the planned development.

"The threat dredging poses to local fisheries and marine life is one of many reasons this development is totally inappropriate for Point Peron," said Greens Senator for Western Australia Scott Ludlam.

One year of inaction on bike blackspot ends with cyclist in hospital

More than one year after warning Transport Minister Troy Buswell to fix a Perth cycling blackspot, a cyclist has been hospitalised after a crash at the very same site.

Greens Senator for Western Australia Scott Ludlam developed the bike blackspot smartphone app used to report the site to Minister Buswell.

"Cyclist Travis Deane told the Minister in writing that this cycling blind-spot needed mirrors on May 3rd last year. Today there are still no mirrors and he broke bones in a front-on collision with another cyclist," said Senator Ludlam.

Salvos survey shows major parties can’t stay silent on housing crisis

The rapid rise in the cost of housing has pushed thousands of Australians into deep poverty, the Australian Greens warned today as a Salvation Army survey revealed alarming results.

Greens housing spokesperson Senator Scott Ludlam said "Labor and the Coalition need to declare what they will do to deliver more affordable housing in Australia before the September election".
